Certified Irish Angus Beef Bao Buns

Certified Irish Angus Beef Bao Buns

Beef Cut: Fillet Steak

Serves: 2

Cooking Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 450g Fillet Steak
  • 1 carrot julienned
  • 250g raw red & white cabbage, grated
  • 25ml soy sauce
  • 1tsp honey
  • 1tsp sesame oil
  • Juice ½ lime
  • 6 Bao Buns
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing
  • Coriander for garnishing

Mayo

  • 3 tbsp mayo (Kewpie japanese mayo works best, but standard will work fine)
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp sesame oil

Method

To make the mayo, mix all ingredients together until smooth. (can be made ahead and stored in the fridge)

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, sesame and lime together and pour over the carrot and cabbages. Leave to soak up the dressing until ready to eat.

Cook the steak to your liking and leave to rest before slicing.

Steam the bao buns in bamboo steamer, if you don’t have one you can simply place the buns in a bowl and cover with cling film. Microwave for 30 seconds. The buns should be soft and warm before eating.

Fill the buns with slaw and sliced fillet steak, garnish with coriander and a dollop of the mayo.
