(l-r) Executive chefs at MJ Finnegan’s Bar & Restaurant Paul Madigan and Daragh Mac Giollchoille with Charles Smith, General Manager of the Irish Angus Producer Group today were announced as the latest addition to the Certified Irish Angus Chefs Club created by Musgrave Market Place, Irish Angus Producer Group and Kepak.

Musgrave Market Place, Irish Angus Producer Group and Kepak initiative encourages listing of top quality beef in Irish restaurants

Renowned Munster restaurant, MJ Finnegan’s in Annacotty, Co. Limerick has been announced as the latest addition to the Certified Irish Angus Chefs Club created by Musgrave Market Place, Irish Angus Producer Group and Kepak. Membership will be awarded to fine dining establishments around the country who have demonstrated a commitment to the Certified Irish Angus Beef brand and exclusively offer Certified Irish Angus Beef on their restaurant menus.

James Canavan, Trading Manager Musgrave Market Place said, “We are thrilled to announce MJ Finnegan’s Restaurant & Bar as our newest club member. Our customers are increasingly interested in the provenance of ingredients and our ability to show full transparency on our beef is crucial. The Certified Irish Angus brand provides the reassurance that customers seek that the beef has come from an Irish farm and that it has been produced to the highest standards”.

Dating back to the 17th Century, MJ Finnegan’s Restaurant & Bar is situated on the grounds of a coach house which belonged to the esteemed Italo-Irish entrepreneur Charles Bianconi, who is commonly celebrated for bringing public transport to Ireland through his horse-drawn carriages.

The restaurant has been lovingly restored to reflect its historical origins, resulting in tasteful décor that provides a cosy ambience. MJ Finnegan’s Restaurant & Bar is renowned for its consistently high-quality food offerings in a family-friendly setting and the venue has gained a reputation for serving only the finest Irish beef.

Speaking about the membership Daragh Mac Giollchoille, Head chef of MJ Finnegan’s Restaurant and Bar said, “It is our pleasure to serve Certified Irish Angus Beef from Musgrave Marketplace exclusively on our menus. The farm to fork level of traceability that the Irish Angus Producer Group provide means that I can guarantee that consistently excellent steaks are served to all of our customers.”

Kepak and the Irish Angus Producer Group formed a strategic alliance almost 25 years ago.

Mel Bohan, Kepak Group said, “The care and attention that Certified Irish Angus Beef receives at every stage in the food chain is evident in the superior quality of the product, and we are delighted as processing partners to ensure high standards are maintained at every step. The Certified Irish Angus Chefs Club provides recognition to the Irish Angus Farmers, whose continued dedication to produce superior beef has resulted in merited menu listings in top restaurants around the country. We are delighted that our well-established business partnership with Musgrave Marketplace has another opportunity to develop further and grow through initiatives such as this.”

Charles Smith, General Manager, Irish Angus Producer Group said, “Welcoming another renowned establishment to our Certified Irish Angus Chefs Club signifies the continued passion within the Irish food industry to serve only the best possible produce to customers. Undoubtedly, this is of mutual benefit to both MJ Finnegan’s, who will now have our premium Irish beef brand exclusively available on menus, but also for our brand which will receive further recognition and visibility for the dedication taken by our family farm members which are now more than 16,000”

MJ Finnegan’s Restaurant and Bar joins The Fig Tree Restaurant at Dromoland Castle in the exclusive club, with other high-end restaurants set to join in the coming months.
